Introduction to Complexity (according to Edgar Morin) and to analytical practices based on it

Introduction to Complexity (according to Edgar Morin) and to analytical practices based on it

Intended contribution / outcome

To raise the awareness of prospective researchers about challenging aspects of Social Science studies on contemporary multifaceted, dynamic, sophisticated topics, offering these aspiring scientists a more comprehensive perspective on how to conceive their research designs. Edgar Morin established a powerful scientific foundation for advanced understanding of reality and social/natural phenomena based on a set of principles & concepts that expand possibilities of innovative research. Our seminar will cover these seminal bases in a combination of theoretical contents and practical exercises, which shall build a comprehension of how to apply Morin’s approach. For students interested in, both, academic and market-oriented careers, this seminar aims to enhance their competences to succeed in dealing with complex challenges and situations in their work life, providing them support to manage measures to overcome typical features of complex problems, such as unpredictable, contradictory, unstable, mutational aspects of real occurrences.
