People with Disabilities

PhD students with a certificate of disability, a certificate of the degree of disability or a certificate referred to in Art. 5 and Art. 62 of the Act of 27 August 1997 on Occupational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of People with Disabilities, are entitled to receive a scholarship at the Doctoral School in the amount 30% higher than the minimum amount of the scholarship specified in the Law on Higher Education and Science (Art. 209 section 4 items 1) and 2).

In the academic year 2022/2023, the amounts of the scholarship are:

- before the mid-term assessment (1-24 months of education):

Minimum amount: PLN 2,371.70 gross, PLN 2,104.64 net

The amount increased by 30%: PLN 3,083.21 gross, PLN 2,736.03 net

- after mid-term assessment (25-48 months of education):

Minimum amount: PLN 3,653.7 gross, PLN 3,242.29 net

The amount increased by 30%: PLN 4,749.81 gross, PLN 4,214.98 net

 

Instructions for submitting an application

In order to receive an increased scholarship due to possessing a certificate of disability, immediately after entering the School and activating your account in the uj.edu.pl domain you must:

  • send a scan of the current certificate of the degree of disability or an equivalent document for verification at the Department of Disability Support Service of the Jagiellonian University ("DON") to the address don@uj.edu.pl;

NOTE: in the case of PhD students commencing their education at the Doctoral School, this activity should be performed before submitting a declaration for scholarship purposes in the USOS web system. It is only after entering the data from the certificate into the USOS system, by an Advisor from the Disability Support Service, “DON”, that it is possible to submit a scholarship application online (at usosweb.uj.edu.pl, usually the next day after data migration).

  • submit a statement for scholarship purposes via usosweb.uj.edu.pl in accordance with the path: 'For everyone'→'Applications'→'Declaration for PhD students at the doctoral school regarding the doctoral scholarship for the academic year 2022/2023 (without Collegium Medicum)', approve, print, and submit the original document (along with a copy of the e-mail from the Disability Support Service, “DON” confirming that the data from the certificate have been entered into the system) at the Office of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, Rynek Główny 34 (34 the Main Market Square), 2nd floor, room 7, 31-010 Krakow.

* NOTE: if your disability certificate is temporary, remember to re-send a scan of the updated certificate to don@uj.edu.pl at least two weeks before the end of the month, in which the previous certificate expires.

In the absence of updating the certificate on your part, the School is not responsible for the failure to pay the scholarship in the increased amount in the month following the expiry of the certificate validity .
